Thank Q Tribute & Benefit Concert

THANK Q – A World Music Tribute to the Humanitarian Works of Quincy Jones is set for Wednesday (Oct. 1) at the Wilshire Theatre in Beverly Hills.

Quincy is scheduled to receive the “Unity through Music Award” at the event, which is set to close with a special performance of “We Are the World,” the Grammy-winning 1985 all-star anthem produced and conducted by Quincy.  Noted world music act Pilgrim will perform the song, written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie for Ethiopian famine relief, along with special surprise guests.

In the spirit of “We Are the World” and Quincy’s other philanthropic efforts, the net proceeds from THANK Q will benefit two African relief organizations supported by Quincy: Malaria No More, which is dedicated to eradicating the deadly disease, and Millennium Promises, whose Millennium Villages program assists impoverished villages in transforming themselves.

At the event, Pilgrim will perform the multimedia piece “The Return of Nuwa” for the first time in the U.S. along with other selections.
