Stevie & Tony

Quincy continues keep his hands full with projects like the 2009 South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference , his Carnaval film project, and an all-star cast tribute album. At 75, Quincy shows no sign of slowing down, as he plans on recording a duets album with his friends, Tony Bennett and Stevie Wonder. Quincy has a long history with both Stevie and Tony. When Quincy was recently asked about Tony Bennett, Quincy replied: “Tony, I’ve known almost 60 years, and he’s just as vibrant as he was [then]. And he sounds better than he ever sounded.” Quincy has strong personal and professional relationships with both Tony and Stevie. Quincy arranged, composed and conducted music for 1965’s The Pawnbroker while Tony Bennett performed the lead vocals for the song.

20 years later, Quincy would be making history with Stevie Wonder for 1985’s We Are The World – USA for Africa session, in an effort to raise funds and awareness for famine in Ethiopia. Now Quincy, Stevie and Tony are gearing up for a duets album, which will be produced by Quincy. The prospective album tracks will feature “a lot of Marvin Gaye songs,” Jones told Billboard. “We’re going to do them jazz, though, because Marvin always wanted to be a jazz musician.” Stevie and Tony met on Bennett’s 2006 Duets album and accompanying TV special. You can watch the duo perform “For Once In My Life” from the 2006 TV special here.
