Q video flashback: ‘Number One Spot’

In the recently posted Q Song Spotlight on “Soul Bossa Nova,” we mentioned that Ludcris sampled the song in his 2005 hit “Number One Spot.” The video for the song (below) features a cameo by Q.

“Number One Spot” also illustrates Quincy’s long-held belief that jazz is related to hip-hop, something Q fan Damara Greene pointed out in a nice email to Q HQ. In this case, it’s Bebop meets Samba — from Quincy’s original recording — sampled by a hip-hop artist. As Quincy would say, it’s all part of the “musical gumbo.”
