Plea for Haiti: I'm touched by the effort QJ is making for Haiti. My plea is that any money that is raised for Haiti be organized and administered personally by a non government organization so that it can be used well. Please. Please Please. I am an Americian born and raised and spent a few months in Haiti last year so I know how thing operate. Please do this right. Haiti can be helped, things can change but I would not trust or rely on the Haitian government alone.

For Haiti:
Sanitation is also one of the biggest and serious problem in haiti,so if the "we are the world"organizer really wants to help more, then this is the best thing to do importantly mostly for those who are still living there, lets make them on their health aside from giving food and medicine,we can help in giving out TOILETS differently designed and engineered better than the ordinary,Engr.Dennis Martino,09065554807 mobile no.,let this be acted first.

I am writing, as founder of this organization that some of the Hope For Haiti and We Are The World funds can be allocated to our children in Jacmel and to the Community in Jacmel.

We need help more than you can know.

This organization, founded in 2003, is all about the children ... they have found their voices and means by which to survive via the arts. Not one penny goes to fundraising, administration in the US, travel, etc. Every penny/dollar/gourde goes to to Jacmel and to the children.

They are strong, but right now they are not whole. Even though they survived the earthquake, they are traumatized and we are doing all we can from afar and on the ground to show them love and provide them the care they need.
Very little aid has made way into Jacmel from the large organizations and it is disorganized - it is the smaller groups that are able to get in, help and make a difference, ACFFC included. We have people on the ground, some food coming in, and we are keeping the children together, busy and cared for. While our building still stands, no one will go inside but to run in for items and run out just as quickly. Our children, their families (who have lost their homes), our staff, an orphanage with 13 children that have lost their building, and various other friends of the foundation are camped across the road in an empty lot. As you know, our focus has been on the arts (as in Haiti, it is a means by which to earn enough to buy food and provide shelter and we want our children to be self sufficient adults), coupled with education (even with a PhD, minimal opportunity in Haiti but to leave), health care, lots of love, and community. Now, everything is tenuous.

Our children are the hope of Haiti and they are trying to keep their spirits high. We need all the help we can get ... primarily money, as shipping anything is difficult and costly ... I know that doctors are needed in the hospitals along with medical supplies ... we have a group of Haitian-American mental health practitioners coming in mid month ... situation is dire ... much to do and not just short term. So, please help as best you can and ask your colleagues to do the same.

I have attached documents describing ACFFC, along with 501c3 certification, etc. We are listed on guidestar with all required documentation.

Additional information is available at www.artforhaitianchildren.org and our Facebook Cause page http://apps.facebook.com/causes/138201/22688483?m=71bb3202 And please see http://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/haiti_52574.html for a story and interview with one of our boys, Bruno Rene, who is an amazing artist and human being.

Please contact me for additional information. And thank you so much ... mesi anpil. We are all grateful.

I am so moved about what happened in Haiti. I have a son on The Virginia Task Force 2 who deployed to Haiti to rescue some of the burried survivors. And I am now so moved about you doing the remake of "We are The World". I love music and have written songs and have had two recorded by Frankie Ford of Sea Cruise Fame in Gretna La. The songs I wrote are on his album "That Can Be Used Again" My Songs are "Lady Waiting" and "Whenever I". I will be 67 on Feb 12th Lincolns Birthday. I use to live in NY and moved to Florida and now live in Rose Hill Va. I dream about making a diffrence and singing for the good of mankind. The ultimate dream would be to be part of the recording of the Redone "We Are The World" because each and every living being we are truly the world.

This is more of a suggestion than a comment...and I really hope Quincy gets this suggestion! THE REMAKE OF "WE ARE THE WORLD" must be better or it shouldn't be done! (1) THE SONG SHOULD BE DONE WITH FAMOUS SINGERS FROM ACROSS THE WORLD (THOSE COUNTRIES WHO HAVE/ARE DONATING. (2)All singers across the world should be shown stopping right in the middle of whatever they were doing...gardening, washing the car, shopping in the mall, participation in a powerful negotiating meeting, whatever, etc. (3)in the musical prelude and the first lines of the song they look to heaven hearing and heeding the call. They start walking from across the world and meet in what ever studio the recording will take place. (3) The Haitian singers and all other famous Haitians who can sing should be hilighted and shown DELIGHTED TO SEE ALL OTHER SINGERS OF THE WORLD COMING TO JOIN THEM. They should be seen blending in with all other singers of the world (3) Though the recording must(???) take place in a studio, the video should look like it's taking place across the world and all of the singers from across the world should meet in Haiti, and even participate in a little hands-on help while singing. I don't know which of the old singers will be included in the remake, but I would like to suggest along with Lionel Richie, and Michael dubbed in with "When You're Down and Out, And You Feel All Hope Is Gone", those old singers who should participate in the remake should include Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen. In my opinion they are "Must Haves"

Thanks.

Hey there Mestro Jones...I am the music director at Mirman School in Los Angeles. Even before the earthquake hit Haiti and you and Mr. Richie announced the remake of We Are The World, I started teaching it to my 300 music students for a Peace and Social Justice Day Assembly on Feb 3. Now, with the events that have occurred, that song even has more of an impact on me since teaching it to my students. My students have embraced that great song and truly understand the message of hope for the world and now, for Haiti. We celebrate with you the return of this moving song and would like to invite you to join us on Feb 3 for our special day. The children's voices will be an inspiration to you. God Bless You for all you do and are doing for the people of Haiti. YOU are an inspiration to the world!
