Q clarifies Michael Jackson comment
Quincy has set the record straight about the possibility of working with Michael Jackson again in the immediate future.
“I didn’t state that I didn’t want to work with Michael Jackson,” Quincy told BET.com. “I stated that I have too many projects to work with Michael, big difference.”
“I love Michael,” Q added. “He’s part of my soul, but I got nine movies, three albums I’m in the middle of, my foundation and my kids. I have a lot to do. You have to focus on everything you do or you don’t do it well.”
Quincy sat down with BET to discuss his new book, The Complete Quincy Jones: My Journey & Passions, which recounts his incredible six decades in the music business with words, wisdom and hundreds of rare photographs of Q and his legendary collaborators. BET asked Quincy to pick his favorite artists to work with, but Q said he could never single out just one.
“That would be impossible when you’re talking Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Duke Ellington, Aretha Franklin, Melle Mel, Heavy D, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Kool Moe Dee, Paul Simon,” he told BET. “It’s impossible because they’re all different. That’s like picking a favorite child…No way.”

MIchael has possibily become an untouchable after his big blow up with Sony Music and the Beatle recordings.

Most of the Fans would LOVE to see Mister Q. Jones working again with Michael Jackson. This WAS the best Teamwork. And if it would happen one more time, the next Album could be REAL History!
I second that. I think real magic could come back to the music industry. Q has said already that it won’t happen this time around. But hey, who says there can’t be some other kind of colaboration? Or even ANOTHER album? Nobody knows what the future brings and God’s ways are mysterious.
Keep up the amazing work Mr. Jones, I have nothing but the utmost respect for you as a professional and as a person.
